Caring for the earth and my own well-being
My natural dyeing and printing art practice emerged from a period of personal transformation. Evolving into someone who can care for both the earth and my own well-being.
My appreciation for the natural world developed through my early career as a geologist. Understanding the land’s geology reveals the ecology it supports. I value intuitive connections to the land—a wisdom embodied by Aboriginal First Nations people. Who understand and honour Country through relationship and care.
This way of connecting continues to influence how I approach my creative work.
I aim to live lightly on this earth, striving to care and protect.

Art as advocacy – through natural dyeing and printing
My creative process is experimental and intuitive, shaped by deep connection to land and sea. It’s a response to the beauty and vulnerability of the places I call home on this island state.
A visit to the Styx Reserve introduced me to native old-growth logging. An experience that shifted my practice toward activism and purpose. Participating in Art for Takayna allowed me to collaborate with these threatened places. This project offered a platform for a growing sense of responsibility: art as advocacy.
Ocean-inspired works emerge from seaweed gathered along the shore, teeming with life—life that cannot keep pace with human-driven change. These small details, often overlooked, carry important stories.
I work with second-hand and remnant fabrics, drawn to the unknown potential of each piece. Committed to limiting my impact. Thoughtful treatments and chosen plants enhance the clarity and longevity of natural prints. I use no plastics in my practice, which contributes to the organic, unrepeatable nature of each piece. Each artwork is shaped by the land, the season, and the process itself.
I offer these works as invitations—to slow down, to pay attention, to reconnect with the world around you. My art encourages you to honour the places you love and to be empowered to protect them.
